2020 Kia Telluride and 2020 Hyundai Palisade Poor Nighttime Visibility

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the 2020 Kia Telluride and 2020 Hyundai Palisade for defectively designed headlights. Telluride and Palisade owners report dangerous nighttime driving conditions caused by black deflectors on the top and bottom of the headlight bulb that restrict forward and peripheral visibility. To remedy the situation, owners have had to resort to replacing the halogen bulbs found on the LX, EX, and S trims of the Telluride (SE, SEL trims on the Palisade) with aftermarket bulbs and/or making adjustments to the headlight alignment. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, has given the headlights on the LX, EX, and S trims of the 2020 Kia Telluride a “Poor” rating, noting of the low beams: “On the straightaway, visibility was fair on both sides of the road. On curves, visibility was inadequate in all 4 tests.” The high beams received an identical comment.

On the Palisade, the IIHS notes: “On the straightaway, visibility was good on the right side of the road and inadequate on the left side. On curves, visibility was inadequate in all 4 tests.” The high beams received an identical comment.
